Happy to report I’ve gained tremendous experience using WordPress.org… Funny thing is now I realize I set up my blog in the .com site ha! Today was a cool day at work. A full time job gives you the security of having stable income, but not so much freedom. I never really wanted the 5-9 life, I don’t think that’s the direction I’m going. But I do know that at this very moment I’m at the right place. As mentioned on my previous post, life is about connecting the dots and this is one I’m happy to fulfill. There are a couple ideas running through my mind lately. One of them is starting my own business, but how does one get there? Since graduation I’ve managed to have a successful career and expand my knowledge in Web Design & Web Development, basically creating a second career for myself. There are some things in life you just know. You don’t have to be the best student at class, or get all A’s. When you’re good at something and you do it with passion, everything flows… Money, happiness, fulfillment.
Is the way I feel about starting a business, I know I have the ability and the power within me to make it happen, it’s just a matter of taking the next step. With this blog I want to share part of that process. Tonight out of all nights I strongly felt about writing something about my plans and ambitions. I’d love to create a fun inspiring blog, that serves as motivation to others that are in the same situation; Well let’s not call it situation, is a phase of life, a phase where one gets ready to take that next step. It’s a matter of trusting your intuition and making it happen.
I hope that soon I can share more of this exciting idea that’s been on my mind for the last 8 months. If something has been in your mind for that long you have to do something about it. That’s the universe taking you in the direction where you want to be.
Thank you for the taking the time to read, and I hope I’ve inspired you with this post in some way. It is only the begining…
So like Steve Jobs said “You gotta trust in something”, and “Connecting the dots”. Well, you can say I’m really doing that here. I created this WordPress blog back in 2011, just to see what the hype was about. My father in law at that time kept suggesting me to get into the WordPress world, since my field is graphic/web design. But at that time I didn’t really had the interest, thinking that WordPress was a website created to pick web themes, and build around them. That has never been my interest till this day, I love web design and its whole process. I want to be the one to create my own theme my own design, my own beautiful, for people to love and admire. I don’t want to grab someone else’s work twik it here and there, then call it mine. That’s not my concept of a true Web designer; Yes, I might agree that in this business it’s better to grab a theme, customize it and sell it to your client as fast as you can, at the end of the day that’s what you’re here for “the money”. But for me, I don’t even mind spending that extra time or even loosing a few bucks as long as I’m able to do what I would truly call my passion… Design. Now going back to the beginning of the story; I created this account just to see what WordPress had to offer, once my thoughts were confirmed, (no shade on WordPress) I logged out and never came back. A few years later, this past week as I found myself struggling to put myself out there and create a name for myself as a real Freelancer, I came across this video about “Tips for successful freelancers” and this guy in the video mentioned how important it is to include a blog on your website in order to bring traffic, this is all new to me. The traffic thing, I mean I know the basics but just never thought of how important this might be. That’s when it clicked, I have already launched my portfolio (after a few months of hard hard work… designing it and coding from scratch), now it was time to use that WordPress blog page I had created a few years back. So here I am, I guess I am living proof of “Connecting the dots” haha. Yet again, nothing too exciting is going on at the time, I’m still trying to figure out who I am as a designer and what field specifically I want to take on. Most certainly I can say that I’ve done some progress in the last few months and not all has been a loss, if anything I expect this to be the begging of something wonderful… Till next time!
